Maggie Brendan’s A Sweet Misfortune is a fun little jaunt into the old west. It’s definitely a light, quick read in traditional inspirational fiction format. The plot and characters are fairly one dimensional, and while I wouldn’t put this book in my “favorites” category, I did enjoy it. It’s great reading for vacation or a lazy afternoon, and with themes of loss, family, contentment, and faith in God’s provision, you’ll finish the last page feeling a little more hopeful.
